Have spoken to the guy who shot the photo of the CH-46 and it is genuine. It was taken over Blanchardstown.
I have worked with this guy for 20 years so I can vouch for it's autenticity !

Here ye go Short Finals, I must appologise, it was taken over west Dublin on the evening of May 20th not Moneygal. The CH-46's were in Mildenhall last Monday when I was there

Just back from the ill fated "Saxon Warrior" so have been relativly out of touch the past few days but, there was also a CH-46 here in Ireland during the visit. I was surprised to see a photo of it flying around moneygal on the Friday before the visit as I had seen the initial formation over Dublin and on the ground at EIDW and it wasn't there (??)

There was a CASA out so I can only assume the 'jet' part was to differentiate.
 One guy said ge could hear jets above (an escort) but personally Id say it was stuff high coming out of EIDW, didn't sound throaty enough to be frontliners.
BTW: I believe Lady GaGa used the same aircraft only yesterday!!!

Gonna be weird seeing the union jack poking out of the roof hatch as it taxis in or maybe they will just fly the royal standard. Mmmm....the royal standard alongside the tricolour!! Now there's a thought!!

Just goin on what I wad told??
I've seen the damaged pieces. The damage definitely looks like it came from below as it looks like a bullet hole as such. Small hole but lifted a chunk on exiting (up). The tar around the hole is melted also.
Maybe the lightning erupted from the runway. Dont forget , the lightning we see with the naked eye is actually travelling up into the cloud. The leader stroke from the cloud is extremely thin and almost invisible to us.
