Irish Air Corps / SF.260WE on N- Register
« on: May 21, 2007, 12:32:08 am »
All six SF.260WE's are registered on the US Register as SF.260C on 15 May 2007. Owner Airpower International Inc.
Airpower International is the dealer for the SF.260 aircraft in the USA.

222 to N223AP
225 to N225AP
226 to N224AP
227 to N227AP
229 to N229AP
230 to N230AP

And yes, before someone asks, N222AP and N226AP were already in use for other aircraft.
The SF.260 fleet will probably be re-assembled and test flown over the coming months before being delivered to their new owners.

regards,
Hendrik van der Veen

F.260D, s/n. 769, N404FD crashed 2 Nov 1995 at Grand Canyon, AZ., pilot serious injured. The fuel lines sucked in air from the still installed ferrytanks resulting in fuel starvation.
N404FD was in the UK from Apr 1995 till Oct 1995, said to be based at North Weald during that period. It left North Weald on 25 Oct 1995 for a ferry flight to Santa Monica, CA. But diverted into Glasgow, leaving there the 26th.
To my knowledge N404FD was not leased to the Irish Air Corps.

yep, the 'white' F.260D are back in the States, since late 1993.

N402FD and N405FD flying dogfights with Air Combat USA, although the owner of the aircraft changed its name.

N407FD left for the States in 2001 for a private owner / corporation.

I will keep his forum informed about the fate of the former Irish SF.260W aircraft.

Tony thanks,

nice photo of SF.260 '230', love to see some more if possible.
Please contact me off message board about this.

I have contacted the boss of Airpower International and he told me,

any date or month when this was happening ?

Did someone take photos of the work being done ? Disassembling, crating etc. I would be interrested to have a look at some.

what is the current status of the SF.260W fleet ?

Are they still in storage at Baldonnel ?
Or are they worked on for their new owner ? Like being dismantled and put into crates ?

Is there a timeframe known when these SF.260's will be moved ?

Hendrik

unofficially I am told that 6 SF.260WE's will go to the USA, for the secondhand market.
Number 7 will remain in Ireland for the museum.

I do not know if the Irish Government published anything about who won the tender for the Siai Marchetti aircraft.

hi,

is it known yet, who has won the tender for the seven SF.260W aircraft ?

I would love to be informed when and how they are leaving, and where they are going to.

anyone ever seen an instructional airframe of a SF.260 fuselage only, at the Apprentice Training School or seen pictures of it. Serial was "233".

It was a former Zaire Air Force SF.260, and it was said that SIAI Marchetti delivered it around 1977-78 to be used for ground instruction ?? Sold for scrap in 1987 ?

SF.260WE = Ireland
SF.260WL = Libya
SF.260WT = Tunisia

What is the current status of the SF.260's ? Have they been withdrawn from use, after the delivery of the Pilatus PC-9 aircraft ?

Is there an official withdrawal date ?

greetings,
hendrik
