Irish Air Corps / Should the Air Corps get interceptor Jets?

what about the Saab Gripen ? I know its very easy to operate and has very low levels of service (typicall one skilled technican and 4 people with zero level of skill can service it).
We could afford them like czech and sweden by sending our pilots to Sweden for training and availing of their facilites.
I think we have a international responsibility to protect our own nation but it all comes down to politics at the end of the day.
