255 will fly occasionally just to keep the cob webs off. It will possibly take part in a GASU formation flight prior to saying a final goodbye.

Second from left looks like Paul Nolan. For those ex members who may have known him, Paul sadly passed away in late 2006.

R.I.P.

I was once told that the Pilot on that occasion was Jeremiah B O'Connor, later to be O/C Air Corps. Otherwise known as "The Gut O' Connor".

What was the fundamental difference between the rebels in 1916 and the IRA in the 70s and 80s?

The modern I.R.A are criminals in all sense of the word. No ethics, no reason, just self serving criminals who used so called Republicanism as a means to profiteer and terrorise ordinary decent people.

Took off from Bal, and was supposed to land at Bal. It was a precision landing by the pilot, and the only damage to the aircraft was an antenna broken by a cow after the plane landed.

I took these photos of a scaled mock up at an exhibition this year. They might be of interest to someone.

Hey, Fouga, no way are they going to fire in that photo! They would have a claim because they have no ear defenders!

It will certainly make ordering spares easier
I wonder how this bodes for the McAlpine Techie residing at Baldonnel hardly makes sense to have two seperate maintenance teams working on 4 helicopters of the same type....or does it?

Garda Helis are Turbomeca engines, with Mc Alpine Fit, Air Corps new EC 135s are Pratt & Whitney Eurocopter build. Different aircraft, similar name.

Only the occasional 68 bus goes to Baldonnel. Most of them finish at the terminus at Newcastle, over two miles away. Check the timetables for an appropiate 68 bus serving Baldonnel, , and no taxi will be required.

Alternatively, 69 to Rathcoole, and a two mile cab from Rathcoole Cabs to Bal. No cabs known at Newcastle, and the 69 is more frequent.

Irish Air Corps / Passing of JP II

It wasn't exactly an Air Corps input, but I was present as a member of the Air Corps in the Papal Guard of Honour for JP2's arrival at Dublin Airport. It was a proud and memorable moment.
