Good post Machlooper, nice to hear from someone who knows what they are talking about. However, I defend my right to freedom of speech and if we want to do this topic to death again on this site then we are allowed to do so !  :stirthepot:

Aviation News / Airblue Passenger Plane Crashes In Pakistan.
« on: July 28, 2010, 01:29:35 pm »

Plane went down this morning ( our time ) outside Islamabad. 146 dead. God rest them. The BBC also did a chronology of " recent " plane crashes. Incredibly enough there have been almost 100 passenger plane crashes since 1998. Flying is safer than driving eh ?

Youd sorta think that the AC would hardly have armed them with rockets if there was a danger of stalling... :airforce_wink:

Id be inclined to agree with the residents on this one but its unlikely they could get low level stopped one imagines. However, you would think that the RAF et al could at least restrict their operations to say 3 days a week as a compromise.

Having said that, I reckon theres a whole lot of members on here ( including me ) who would like nothing better than having 5th generation jets blasting over their house a few times a day.  :airforce_cool:

Well Huge Dave, congrats on the interview. As no one else has bothered to respond yet heres my tuppence. The answer is I cant help you cos Im not an engineer but Im sure someone on here can answer your query. Like most interviews for anything however, you will get asked certain stock questions about your qualifications, your interest in the job, the personal qualities you can bring to the post, etc, etc.

The best bet is to stay calm and ask a few relevant questions of the panel at the end. They will expect you to know about the company too, so the more info you can get on that the better. If you can show that you know as much as possible about the post, the company, its history and aims and objectives you will do ok. :airforce_cool:

Again, its a hell of a good pic. So how many millions went down the drain there for the sake of an airshow ? Crazy stuff.

A truly superb shot of the L39 there Frank. Well done. And just to think we could have had 6 of these instead of the PC-9s... :airforce_cry:

I havnt got the link but its on the BBC News site today ( no doubt Fouga will find it ) that the first operational AA Laser was unveiled by Raytheon. Theres footage of it shooting down a UAV in trials. Interesting stuff.

Great footage allright. Moving away from the Vampire, you may or may not know that Israeli Fouga Magisters actually shot down a few Arab Mig 21s in the 1967 Arab - Israeli war, something that strictly speaking they shouldnt have been capable of doing in a dog fight situation.

Two questions.

1. How many cadets will finally join the ranks after the tests etc ?

2. I thought the lads on here were saying there would be no further AC cadet recruits for a few years yet ? Im very glad to see that there now are going to be a few. Thats real progress. :airforce_cheesy: :airforce_cheesy:
