WAR !!

Ive heard it all now. This is the Irish Air Corp we are talking about, what makes you think we will ever be going to war, especially with PC-9's.

Imshi how long do you think it takes to do a fly past ?

You would swear that people here were suggesting that the corp should be flying at airshows every week, all the topic is about is a quick fly past.

This is the last comment i have on this topic.

Out of curiousity, how were you able to tell it was a PC9 if it was pitch black outside? Also the Garda heli`s are lit up like christmas tree so it probably would have been far easier to identify the heli than the plane.

Every aircraft has a distinct sound, especially the PC-9, thats how he probably knew what was flying.

So people will see the air corps have prop planes and want to join up?
Id call it a waste of time and effort

Just because we mainly only have prop planes doesnt mean that the youth of the country will not want to take an interest in our defence forces. The main reason people will join is because they will get the chance to serve there country and that is something any Irish person should be proud of regardless of our defence assets.

As Frank said, many of the people in this country dont even know off the Air Corp, and its not going to cost the state a fortune to incorporate a fly past into one of the regular training excercies that the Air Corp operate.

And the benefit to the Air Corps would be?

And dont tell me people are going to demand defence spending after seeing a flypast.

Incase you havent noticed there is currently a recruitment drive in process for the Air Corp.

A flypast would act as good PR and also to let potential recruits see the type of new aircraft the Air Corps operate, just like the Blue Angels do in the US, as there main role is to try an influence young people into wanting to join the US Navy.

how about selling the GIV and the lear, send berti with air lingus and but some more helo's so we really can be airmobile.

That would involve common sense, something the Irish goverment clearly lacks.

That plane (RA-77114) was used by Nasa during 1996 and 1997 on the SST program. Its currently been stored in Russia.

Buy some of the Trevor Thom books and read them from cover to cover. Be prepared to sweat a lot when training aswell because it can get fairly intense in that small cockpit.

You will love it though, i know i did when i first started.

Irish Air Corps / CASA's to go ?
« on: September 18, 2003, 10:23:36 am »
Is'nt there a crowd from Canada that specialise in this area aswell, they use a King Air and im nearly sure that they provided training for the Air Corp crews when the IAC purchased the Casa'a.

Seeing as how our goverment loves to waste money, i wonder if the thought has passed through Berties and Smiths head of purchasing one of the soon to be retired concordes.

Thinking twice about it, it probably would'nt be good enough for them. Isle is to narrow for Harney anyway. '<img'>

But back to serious matters,
do any of ye think the RAF will purchase a few and convert them to supersonic bombers...

They would be mad not to.
