I was at Portrush this year and the Typhoon was absoluty breathtaking..The entire town literally came to a standstill, it honestly brought tears to my eyes...I hope it attends Salthill..

I read in Flying in Ireland that the IAC had borrowed smoke pods for a flypast at the Ryder Cup..But due to the bad weather, the flypast was cancelled

According to this months aircraft illustrated Bray is hosting an airshow this year, I'm not sure what date though, I haven't got the magazine with me

I met him loads of times when I was in the RDF up at Finner. Apparantly he's a crack shot with the steyr (so I was informed by few lads from the 28th)!!

You can print the form off the DF website as far as I know. If not then just send off and they will gladly send you one.

Oh military.ie might not be working bacuse they are currently making a new one due to come online in a few weeks as far as I know.

But the RAF do not accept applications for pilots unless you are either British born or a British citizen. They did up until September 2004 which pissed certain people off      

You can get in most ground roles though

I agree. As much as I would love to see Air Corps fast-jets, I still think the priority is to increase our amount of multi engine and rotary wing aircraft before anything else.

Air Corps Careers / Need Advice

Welcome to the board John.

Whether or not previous flying experience gives you an advantage in the competition is a much debated issue. Some say it does, but some say that the Air Corps prefers to train it's pilots from scratch (i.e. their way of flying), its very hard to know but I think it can't hurt to show that you have got some hours. With regard to your leaving cert, as long as you are doing a European language (french, german, spanish) then you should be okay.

Hey Pilatus.. I was on duty at that airshow at Derry in 2001 as an air cadet!! After the show, the RAF police gave out shit to us for letting civies behind the crowd line to see the aircraft!!

Its great to see the NI Wing of the ATC doing as well as ever. The last wing parade I was at had two Pumas on display and not all the cadets got to even see them up close. I was one of the lucky ones though..I even got a flight which was great!!
