As I said correct me if Im wrong.
But they do use red plastic ones also as some of the guys had on that particular excercise.

And were not saying your tottally in correct but usually when the ARW are conducting any form of training scenario they will conduct it "Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels" carrying exactly everything they would if it was a real scenario as this improves there skills as a Ranger.. but alot of other forces such as the British conduct a proportions of there Training Excerises were not firing blanks ammunition personnel will be using Plastic/replica SA80s etc to lessin the load this principle is not carried out within the Irish Defence Forces unless (you inculde the carrying of the SRAAW Rocket Launcher which during training situations (e.g in the Glen Of Imaal) a previously fired launcher will be carried to simuilate the weight and procedure of carrying thew weapons etc... but nobody reallys knows exactly what the ARW carry e.g Plastic Styers so whos to say your not totally incorrect P.Doff.

Who cares if its plastic or real  ,the answer to the original question is yes the styer is waterproof,back to the aircraft pics... '<img'>

In the August pic the Alouette seems to have all her lights off is this common practice when working with the ARW?

I'd assume so, wouldnt make sense to have lights on during a shooting match
