IAC A-139's #5 and #6 just added to the production list with tail numbers 280 and 281.  Does this mean the two options have been taken up?  Now for #'s 7 and 8!

see http://www.dgualdo.it/prod-ab139.htm

i think you're just reading it wrong - if you look to the side you'll see 2 of the 6 air corps entries are still listed as "on option".

im confused as to the leap to reg 280?

well it's pointless to pretend that a four chopper fleet will be of much more than token use to the infantry, considering that it's unlikely all four will be in the air at once due to maintenance

six would be a start, but i think they corps need many more machines to have a visible impact...
really heli's are far more usefull to our forces than fixed wing,we should focus on buying choppers!

That site has not yet grasped the idea that the sequence for the AB139 will begin at 280. This is presumably to allow for further expansion of the EC135 fleet as the Alouettes are eventually retired. The same was done with the Pilatus.

Anyone notice on that production list that there are two Irish civil AB139s on order as well - one is for JP McManus.

He charters them to his mates... He had a Loud bell with the undercarriage in pods on the side all along.
