Harrier down!

The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that a RAF Harrier GR9 crashed near Kidlington, Oxfordshire at approximately 1700 today, 13 July 2006.

Royal Air Force
The RAF pilot ejected safely.

We can confirm that, as at 1800, the emergency services are on the scene, and we are unaware of any injuries on the ground.

The single-seater aircraft was flying from RAF Cottesmore to RAF Fairford to participate in the Royal International airshow (RIAT).

The cause of the crash will be the subject of an investigation in due course.

Thank God he/she got out safely and nobody was hurt!

Nobody was injured and it looks like it was a bird/birds down the intake. Sparks were seen pouring out the nozzles not long after he flew near a large flock of birds before he seemed to slow right down and pitch up before loosing it and punching out.
