The ejectee was one Cadet McPartland, who sustained back injuries that he carried for life, which didn't prevent him from a full career in Aer Lingus thereafter.Ejection seats were less forgiving than they are now.
Also, aerial(and land) border incursions happened so often that no-one batted an eyelid unless, for form's sake, an incident report had to be filled out, again depending on the zeal of the participants and the state of play of political tension at the time.It was the case that an Air Corps pilot was considered a Border "virgin" until he had made his first incursion.Also, taking shortcuts across each other's airspace has been going on since time began....if anyone cares to read about the Troubles in any depth, you'll soon realise the extent of offical and unofficial co-operation between the DF and the British Forces.
