Thanks for that Tony!!!!...I did'nt start the Pink Panther thing,just carried on the tradition.
I tried to paint as many flying helmets and Alouettes as possible with the pink panther and the squadron badge(the second one down in previous post).
Part of the symbolism of the badge was the red Ankh cross,an Egyption life symbol,representing the outline of the Alouette,surrounded by the gold circle,a greek life symbol.
The lower scroll is the irish translation of the SAR motto
"THAT OTHERS MAY LIVE"
In my humble opinion, this badge should be the one to represent the Alouette.
By pure co-incidence, I collected my daughter and granddaughter from Dublin Airport this evening, after a holiday in Spain, and the present from my granddaughter was a Pink Panther mascot for my car!!!
