Meiringen WK / WEF 2008

Hi Guys,

Spent 3 days in Switzerland covering the flying activity for the World Economic Forum being held at Davos. First stop on the list was Meiringen Air Base near Interlaken in central Switzerland.

Meiringen was the venue for the fighter squadron training courses (Wiederhohlungskurses FlSt8, F-5 Squadron & Wiederhohlungskurses FlSt11, F-18 squadron) and while these these squadrons also provided CAP (Combat Air Patrol) cover for Davos.

The sun just about gets down into the air base during January, shots had to be timed so that the aircraft were in the sun before taking the pictures. This really only applied to take off shots and some landing shots, after that everything else was in the shade.

 :airforce_huh:Doesn't this make us question who should provide Combat Air Patrol for major EU and international political/economic meetings in Ireland. Hpoefully the IAC but with appropriate flying equipment!
