Some Help!
« on: December 04, 2009, 07:46:59 pm »
Hi guys im replicating an exact post from a member of boards.ie as he needs some help from Donners!

""The attached photo belongs to a child I teach whose great uncle was in the Air Corps. He is the chap in the dark coat. The child is doing a project on his family history and would like to include this guy.
Can someone here please identify what type of plane they are standing in front of?

Are there any existing records from the Air Corps he could perhaps check for information on him?""

DH 60 Gipsy Moth looks like the IrishAero Club then based at Baldonnel and possibly EI-AAH.

If Tony is right & the Gipsy Moth is EI-AAH the photo would be pre Mar 1933 as it crashed 24 May 1933. Any more photos ?

Fouga ,I don't believe that he/she  requested that information only the type of aircraft. It is difficult to make out the features of the pilot but having a stab at it I would suggest that it is Fred Crossley, a Captain in the Air Corps at that time.
