Air Corps Museum

Hey all.  This is my first time posting on the board so I thought id start with an easy question.

Do we have and Air Corps museum?
if so
1) Where is it located?
2) When is it open to the public, and
3) What types of aircraft are on display

Appreciate any info ye can give

welcome to the forum.
In answer to your questions:
No , we do not have an IAC museum BUT..... The IAC has a few planes from history stored at the Don.
This planes are e.g. Fougas, Vampires, Avro Anson etc.
The hangar in which they are stored is called " the museum" by IAC personel.
This place can be visited if you ask permision at the aerodrome.

To be fair to Mick Whelan, I would have to say that the museum is much more than "a few planes from history stored at the Don". Mick has done a fantastic job in the hangar and has the aircraft and engines in display mode with marked walkways and memorabilia on display. Mick needs a lot of help and support,and for the work and enthusiasm put into it he deserves it. The aircraft referred to as an Anson is actually an Avro XIX the civil version of the Anson.

I understood that Stinger was thinking about a museum where entry-fee had to be paid and everything.

I had the chance myself of visiting the "museum" last september and I thought it was great.

Again ....I appologise if I have hurt some-ones feelings on this issue.

Here here Tony,
Congrats to all involved and well done. The museum had improved in the few weeks between my two last visits, so to be fair to Guinness it appears that constant improvements are being made.
Along with the aircraft are many interesting display units with photographs and artifacts.
Engines on display include a R-R Merlin and a Napier Dagger(Hawker Hector) as well as a Goblin from the Vampire, among others.
Tony what is the situation with Miles Magister 34?

Hi Tony, what's the story on getting into the museum? Can I just turn up at the gate and ask? I won't get a chance in the near future but if EUJet really get up and running from Manston and have (reasonably priced!) flights to Dublin I would like to pay a visit.

As an exer I could not see how you could be refused to enter Baldonnel. I know a lot has changed security wise, but I am sure a little advance notice would open doors. Let me know if you ever get a chance to come over.
Taj Miles Magister 34 is still in Workshops having a clean up.
