Hi all,
The word is that the PC-9's are to do their first proper 4 ship display(thats what the lads are saying anyhow!!) at the Family day on the 26th! I heard that, "they are putting a display team together, and this will be their first public appearance"!!! So, there we go,didnt take them long to get up and running. They been calling themselves just pilatus section on the radio when flying so dont know if theyre goin to be given an official name that day??

Will they be called "Team PC-9" perhaps ?

.........or will they go for something snappy like the RAAF PC-9 team 'The Roulettes' ?

They put up a 3 ship instead of a 4. But they were fantastic. I have never seen Aircorps aircraft fly such tight formations before. When they done theyre line astern formation the props of the rear a/c were almost touching the tail of the respective a/c in front!!!
The singleton then broke off and performed maneuvers never before seen by an aircorps a/c. The 360deg turn was breath taking as he turned within the length of the plane!!!
The GOC done a display in the lear 45 which proved it was no slouch for an exec jet with wing overs and high speed passes!
And of course the ARW diplay was great. A Gazzelle was brought down by terrorists with GPMG's that infiltrated the ramp with a jeep. The gazzelle spouted out smoke and landed while wobbling on a very small patch of grass and the pilots were taken hostage. Meanwhile a pair of allouettes came in fast over the fence pulled to a hover while dropping ropes which a Ranger assault team fast roped down and took out the terrorists with Mini-Mi's and sub calibre steyr's!!
Good stuff. Next year they are hoping to invite foreign airforces pending the reaction to this one.

Way to make me jealous.
That sounds like it was a great day out.It also sounds like something which, had it been open to the public, would be a huge boost to the Air Corps and Army`s image. The Air Corps book has photo`s of previous family days which included Fougas lauching simulated attacks etc. Thats the kind of thing that would get more young people interested in joining the Defence Forces.

I agree, thats the kind of stuff the public need to see - not just DF families.

The Naval service had something similar on saturday last. Went down a treat, and will be the way of the future,if the current boss has his way.

Easier to justify public money if the public know what they are paying for.
