Fouga & Museum update

Hey Taj, I too had a tour of the museum last week and I was very impressed with the amount and quality of some of the exhibits. I was especially pleased to see that mine and Billy McC's names are still on the Vampire from when we restored it! (Only a select few know where we defaced it!). Sadly I didn't have enough time to have a good look in detail, maybe next time......I do hope they keep up the good work and maybe advertise in FlyPast?

Hi John,

I think many people are not aware of the extent of the work that has been done in recent times with the museum. It is not confined to aircrft but has hundreds of other items on display, all laid out excellently. The more people become aware of the efforts, the more items will be donated and help offered. There are numerous items in the stores that can be identified but how they were used remains a mystery and unless some exers can help out they will remain a mystery. One example is an ejection seat calibration kit for the Vampires. It's use is obvious, but how it was used is another thing. It looks like nothing to do with an ejection seat! If anyone has any info please drop me a line at editor@wingsireland.com  

Putting appeals in international mags would be one way of getting answers.

Yes, hear hear for the Museum which is certainly going in the right direction (thanks mainly to its dedicated and enthusiastic curator).

I see there are three Fouga's for sale in the states fully restored starting at USD$89K. Plus a 1985 Jaguar in the Uk for $5m. Not too shabby.
