AB139 Colours
« on: March 26, 2005, 02:26:48 pm »
Hi Guys,

For those of you who have not seen the article in Scale Aircraft Aircraft that showed the the proposed colour scheme for the new AB139 heli's here's my attempt at recreating the colour scheme:

It's not the best but at least you get the idea.  I'll try to get the EC135 done up later today.

Regards,

Frank.

there is a better template   here for those who want to have a go at painting up the colour scheme.

How reliable is the source? Is it still speculative? Considering the delivery wont be for another 2 years almost...

Hi Sealion,

Thanks for the link,  I already had that picture but I went for the simple approach, something quick and simple, art is not my strong point.

But as Sealion said, if any of you budding artists out there can put a good likeness together using the template linked to above (or any template or picture for that matter) upload it here and I'll also use it on the AB139 information page.

The source is the Air Corps, and the information is contained in the April 2005 issue of Scale Aircraft Modelling which has an article on the Air Corps by Lt. Col. Kevin Byrne.

There is a disclaimer included with the drawings in this magazine:
Quote
Impression based on the best current information on how these aircraft will appear in Air Corps service.

There are also drawings of the EC135 in this issue of the magazine along with drawings of all the aircraft currently operated by the Air Corps, interestingly enough there is no picture of a Marchetti, that's progress I suppose.

Regards,

Frank.

THX for the excellent preview of the likely 139 scheme.  However, I submit that the roundel will appear on the tail boom rather than the main cabin door, and that hopefully IRISH AIR CORPS will appear on the main cabin door.  Likewise, the serial number may appear on the tail boom beside the roundel and on the nose for easier observation on the ramp and in the field.  This from experience trying to find the proper aircraft on a crowded ramp.

Finally, I strongly support the single color scheme and hope it is a shade of dull green similar to that now used on British Support Helicopters such as the Chinook and Sea King.

Couldn't find that magazine in the shops when I went looking.
