Last time I was in fairford(1994) friday was "fly in" day, with visiting aircraft arriving at 15 minute intervals. The campsite accross the road was as good a viewpoint as any,and you get good shots of many aircraft you may later miss due to the pure size of the flightline.
Back then the Former WarPac aircraft such as the Mig 19 and Mig 21s were the real stars, with their painfully loud engines.
We were lucky back in 1993 to Have a Tupelov Bear and a B52 on the same ramp. The following year we had a B1B and a Blackjack.(I think).
The RAF fly ins are no longer interesting, with the withdrawal of the Buccaneer,Canberra,Victor,Phantom,Jaguar etc.
