Aircraft Over Galway Bay

Anybody know what the Civvy Aircraft was doing over Galway Bay, seemed to be moving in a line pattern AFAIK starting in an East direction then going west then east again etc, perhaps mapping the bay?

There is an Australian Dash-8 operating out of Kerry at the moment on survey work.  Could this have been what you saw?

I was airborn in Galway bay yesterday evening 18/10/06 between 1630 to 1730 local and the Dash-8 was out doing survey work 1500 feet and below..
