139 Air Firing
« on: March 14, 2007, 10:34:19 pm »
I bet the vast majority of army would have been stunned to see so many Air Corps personnel in one place running a complex range practice for the air firing of the 139 over the last few days! It made my heart glad to see such a step up in capability, and damn impressive it was too. Lots of rounds comin atcha with bells on.

I've got pics but they will have to go through the Air Corps first before they can go on the website so it could be a while before you'll see them.

Frank.

Well done Scorpy,
Please pass on my congratulations to all in No 3. Its great to see such a considerable step made in such a short time (Since the 139s arrived I mean, not 1963!). Its been a long time coming and wish you all the best.
ps Are you guys wearing body armour in case of rebounds or is that still a dirty word!!

No, we've been upgraded to bulletproof status. I saw a rather large artillery piece fly today! Unbelievable. Never thought I'd see the day we could sling a 105. Must have been some anxious commuters on the N7 around lunchtime!... Yet another step in the right direction for the future. D arty looked happy. Possibly because they didn't drop his 'piece'.

No, unfortunately not. The audience was extensive and I believe suitably impressed. I'm still flabbergasted. Cannot wait to see the shots, but since they were official, don't expect to see them here. Hate to say it, but I reckon I know what one of the shots on next year's calender is going to be already!

The gun flies bloody well though. Nice and stable, no spinning or pitching. I won't go into details of the aircraft capability, but it was better than I had anticipated. Not that I know anything, of course. Yet.

BTW Turkey, no offence, but I bet Frank has you licked. Must look out for skulkers the next time I'm down there. Hope your camo is good!

None taken.
Incidentally I was in plain sight, as I nearly always tend to be, I really do not know how I always get away with it. '<img'>
