No Problem... not like I designed the original...

Anyone remember the Pink Panther on the Alouettes?
You can blame Papa242 for bringing this one on and eventually defaceing the Minister's property!!! 'pilot_grin'

Thanks for that Tony!!!!...I did'nt start the Pink Panther thing, just carried on the tradition.
I tried to paint as many flying helmets and Alouettes as possible with the pink panther and the squadron badge(the second one down in previous post).
Part of the symbolism of the badge was the red Ankh cross,an Egyption life symbol, representing the outline of the Alouette, surrounded by the gold circle,a greek life symbol.
The lower scroll is the irish translation of the SAR motto
"THAT OTHERS MAY LIVE"
In my humble opinion, this badge should be the one to represent the Alouette.
By pure co-incidence, I collected my daughter and granddaughter from Dublin Airport this evening, after a holiday in Spain, and the present from my granddaughter was a Pink Panther mascot for my car!!!
Cheers All

Guinness,
The Heli Flight (as it was known then ) badge with the hands above the water, as in the first one illustrated was only carried on some of the Alouettes for a very short period. A new badge was designed by the Irish Sculptor Kieran Kelly and was carried on most of the (still) Heli flight, later to be called Heli Sqn.
The St. Brendan badge was carried on the Dauphins only.

Tony K

In addition, the Heli Sqn and St. Brendans Badge were used as the Squadron Badges soon after the New flight suits were introduced as actual badges, However the future of both badges is in doubt now as the "Heli Sqn" is not really a unit and this badge will not be used for 3 Ops Wing. The 301 Sqn's Future as a SAR sqn is doubtful.

They can't, because the S-61n 's aren't owned by the Air corps nor the government. as far as i know they are opperated by the department of marine and enviroment. The choppers itself are leased from some english company.

Please correct me if i'm wrong.

The S61's are on contract from CHC Ireland Ltd, part of CHC Helicopter Corp. Canada.  They currently operate in 34 countries.
