Fermanagh Seaplane Festival 22nd-25th May
« on: May 02, 2009, 05:45:25 pm »
Hi Guys,

On the 22nd-25th May a seaplane festival will be held in Fermanagh, Northern Ireland.

Planned activities are as follows:

Friday 22nd May

Seaplane Pilots arrive - cruise around Lough Erne organised.

Saturday 23rd May

We have arranged for a fly out in the morning to Lough Ramor in Virginia, County Cavan for lunch.

In the afternoon the Royal national Lifeboats institution (RNLI) have requested that we fly into Enniskillen town centre to support their fund raising event. Will make for superb TV and photos. This is only available to the smaller aircraft due to the length of available water.

An WWII themed evening dinner has been arranged at Share with live music, Ted Jones a former Seaplane pilot trainer based in Fermanagh in WWII shall be after dinner speaker at the event.

Sunday 24th May

Is the main event at the Share holiday village offering seaplane trips, helicopter and balloon trips, land based activities such as archery, wall climbing, go-carts and much more, water based activities such as boat trips, model seaplane demonstration and hopefully a Catalina will pay a visit and to close it all, a beach side barbeque

Monday 25th May

Flight along the ‘Donegal corridor’. The Donegal corridor is part of the Seaplane heritage here; it’s the route the seaplanes took during World War 2, which crossed the Republic of Ireland to the Atlantic Ocean, saving them considerable time and fuel

About 10 seaplanes, including Cessna 182's & 185's, Aviat Husky, Searay and Piper Cub have so far confirmed their attendance, but more are welcome, if you have a seaplane and are interested in attending you can contact the organisers. More information is available in the flyer available below or by visiting http://www.fermanaghseaplanefestival.com
