Baldonnell Air Spectacular 2000 Video Footage uploading advice
« on: November 28, 2009, 05:37:18 pm »
Hi All
I was having a root around in my attic (as you do) for Xmas decorations and came across my old Sony Handycam with Baldonnell Air Spectacular 2000 Video Footage of both days including: IAC, Meteor, Jaguar, Swiss F/18 Hornet..ECT   :airforce_cool:

In the process of viewing & converting to digital format and was wondering, since I'm new to uploading to Youtube/Facebook
Will it need to be compressed by much and are their Trade-offs or limits to the quantity and quality of footage allowed

Ill keep you posted of my progress and any advice on the above would be much appreciated thanks!!  :airforce_laugh:

PS
Due to time constraints(work...) it may be a tad slow but ill give the IAC stuff Priority I'm looking forward to veiwing at a blast from the past

Hi Joey,

I took this info from the YouTube upload page:

About Uploading

    * Capture and Upload in High Definition!
    * Upload up to 10 videos at a time
    * Best video formats for YouTube
    * Up to 2 GB in size.
    * Up to 10 minutes in length.

While the highest quality you can manage is best you'll have to keep within the above guidelines. If you're living in Ireland I would hazard a guess that your broadband could be a constraint (unless you have access to superfast internet at work) with regards to data transfer limits & upload time so you may have to keep the files smallish.

Regards,

Frank.

I don’t think I get the full benefits of broad band especially living in Dublin  :banghead:

Unfortunaly the handy cam didn’t come with anti-shake technology so Steven Spielberg needn’t worry

Hats off to the IAC   :ireland:  for putting on a cracking display of flying skills
The Dauphin / gazelle & Alouette pilots were brilliant   :applause:

I'll do my best to have some footage ASAP chaps

Only messing by the way!

I remember that show well, I got there so early on both of the days that I was in before the air scouts (marshals) and had free reign on the Air Corps museum aircraft (of course I was crap with a camera in those days  :airforce_sad: )

I was situated at the rotate point for the display aircraft, what I wouldn't have given for a decent zoom lens then!

Anyone remember the chip van going up in smoke? Flames shooting everywhere!

The second day i was at the barrier close to the action and got better shots of the display including the IAC :ireland: Display it was also a Cracking Day weather wise

I will do my best to fix the second tape and get to work it was a better Recording if memory serves me

Frank would it benefit if i open up a new thread in the Aircraft Videos Section of this forum I’d hate to clog up the forum with too much post on this thread

Hi joey,

I started a new thread here, stick the rest of your videos in here. Have you video of any of the other displays by any chance?

I recorded pretty much most of the two days but with a lot of crowd line infringements i.e. heads Getting in the Blooming way :banghead: it’s just a matter of slicing & splicing the best footage possible

Displays I recorded were;

Canberra / F/A18 Hornet/ F16 / Jaguar / meteor / Harrier GR7/ DH Vampire/ Jimmy Griffins YAK 50 / Hungarian Formation team flying their Slingsbys and KIA sponsored Piper Cub attempting to land his Plane on a moving trailer  also parachute displays IAC/RAF Nimrod Ect...

I’ll need to get tape two sorted as it had the best footage ill post what i can salvagefrom tape 1  for the moment

Regards

Joey
