Hi Alpha,

I hope to get some video shots of the Air Corps along with the Red Arrows in action at the Salthill Air Show in a few weeks time.  As soon as I get the videos optimised for the web I'll put them online.

Hi Guys,

I picked up my new camera at the weekend, a Fuji S602 with 1GB Microdrive memory card (I saved €300 by buying it from Germany, talk about rip off Ireland!).

Anyway, this camera has a video function which I plan on using at the upcoming Salthill Air Show, where I hope  (if I can juggle cameras quickly enough that it) to take some video as well as still shot's of the action.  I then plan on uploading these video's to IrishAirPics.com

I made a video of a Robinson R.44 in the hover at Carnmore over the weekend as a test and I've uploaded it to the website.  Click here for the test page with the R.44 video.

I plan on saving the files as .MPG files, but if you guys have any suggestions on other formats please let me know.

The camera also takes pretty impressive still shots, check this picture out, this Beech was in Galway over the weekend with Bertie Ahern.

have you tried windows media video, not sure ifs it better than mpg but I think there smaller.

I have a video of the s-61 doing winch training at dublin airport, i took it back in december if you want it.
its 5megs.

Hi Alan,

I tried the WMV format but the quality is crap, I prefer to use the MPG format, the file may be slightly bigger but the quality is way better.  I don't plan on having too many video files on the website so I'll go for quality over quantity.

I think maybe the only other real option is to use a Real Media format??

Real Media can be a Pain though, using real player with all its ads and pop-up's etc plus most users can't use a high bandwith and the quality in Real is terrible (keeps starting and Stopping) The Photo quality on them camera's is great my brother has a Sony one with Infra red and Nite vision '>

Hi Guys,

I paid a trip to Dublin Airport on Friday morning to try out my new camera where I got some good still shots and also some good video of planes landing.

If you go to the video test page you'll see a video of an Alitalia MD-80 landing.  I have uploaded two versions of this video, one is low res, ~96kb, and the second one is medium res, ~ 5.26mb.

Have a look at them, if you have any ideas or comments please let me know.

Yeah I just got into trouble in work!!!

Our IT dept Doesn't like us accessing WMV files (Probably suspects us of Porn...)
