2009...... what a year
« on: January 06, 2010, 06:56:13 pm »
Just looking back at 2009 and I've figuered out....... what a year !

Ofcourse the most important, and very sad , news was the loss of two very fine IAC airmen.
On the Dutch forums they only complain about the loss off "265".
This is one of the reasons I'm not posting anymore on these forums.
Again, I wish the families of these airmen all the strenght in 2010.

Looking at the point what the DF have done in 2009 all over the globe it's enormous.
In Chad, your men ( and women ??) are still involved in peacekeeping not to forget the Bosnia erea.

on a personal note the second week of February 2009 was absolutly great.
I had the honour of meeting GOC R. James at Baldonnel .
Next to that I had a tour which showed me all the aspects of the IAC in general.

To be honest..... I'm used to the Royal Netherlands Air Force but the "drive" in the staff of the IAC is much higher than in this country.
This is one of the reasons why my support to the IAC is more than I can ever give to the RNLAF.

Let me end this with the wish that 2010 will be the best year ever for : the people in the IAC, their families and everybody who supports the IAC.

Dia luas agus lig na hÉireann a shábháil ar aon nithe dona i 2010!
( sorry if the translation isn't 100%)

Hi LP,
Guinness and Fouga 23 are longstanding and respected contributors to the forum, well, by now they are honorary Irishmen.

Thanks Tony, Your words are too kind :) I've never been to Ireland but I do hope to make a tour of it someday. At the moment I'm only stalking the local Irish pub, cleaning them of Guinness and I have an Irish friend. Ireland is one country that really speaks to me.
Although forum member Guinness is Dutch and I'm Belgian, I know him from the old days when he did the Belgian AF 23SQN booth at airshows. Those were the days! I'd still hate the bastards who killed off the SQN in budget cuts but I did have a little revenge when our Fouga made it's final flight in 2007:

I agree with Guinness about 265. Aircraft can be replaced, but the loss for the families and friends stays. I too wish them much strength. May 2010 be a superb year for all!
