Aer Arran / Aer Lingus @ Galway
« on: March 10, 2010, 04:27:31 pm »
Had a quick visit to Galway airport this morning to catch the first of the Aer Arran ATR 72's to be painted in in the new Aer Lingus regional Livery. We just arrived and it was just coming in from Shannon were it got the paint job and made its first fair paying flight out to Manchester. This aircraft is to be based in Cork and a further two are to get their paint jobs and be based in Dublin. The Aer Lingus Regional services operated by Aer Arran aircraft and crew are to begin on March 28th. The sun was very low in the sky which made picture taking very difficult hence the poor second and third pics.

I don't think the flag is the wrong way round, it's as you would see the right side of the flag on a flag pole if you were going forward (hard to express in words that, maybe someone more eloquent can say it better).

The question about the flag came up on another forum as well. It seems that it is common practice to put flags in reverse on the starbord side so the flag looks as if it is flying from a pole at the front of the aircraft. Having said that, aer lingus did'nt do that in the past, so this is new for them.

Thats how I though it was wrong by comparing to the flags on other Aer Lingus aircraft. Also since then I have read it on other forums.
