Gardaí seize 2 rocket launcers in Kildare

Reported by RTÉ today that Gardaí have seized 2 "loaded" rocket launchers as part of an operation against organised criminals.

No mention of whether the devices were RPG's or something more "intelligent", nor the nature of the devices (SSM or SAM).

Still, a worrying development for Air Corps ops and in particular GASU.

And people laughed at me on another thread for suggesting that this island is potentially the most unsafe country in western europe. If Dublin clownland members can get their hands on RPGs what can the chaps up here get their hands on eh ? Makes ye think now maybe ? Naw, probably not.

And in further developments along these lines, just yesterday a senior Dissident Republican was jailed for years after he was caught trying to buy arms for the RIRA, CIRA, et al. MI5 used a sting operation in which one of their operatives who called himself "Ali" posed as an arms dealer operating from Eastern Europe.

Considerable amounts of cash were handed over to Ali before the Dissident was finally arrested. And the shopping list he wanted and was prepared to pay for ?

50 + AK 47 Assault Rifles
20 + RPG Rocket Launchers
Dozens of hand guns
1000s of rounds of ammo plus grenades and ammo for the RPGs
And a request for SAMs if possible

He clearly stated that their intention is to restart the war and take it to a " higher level " which makes sense if you want to start the next and final round in the Irish conflict. I wish people in the south would wake up to what is happening here and what will happen. I again ask that the government of the ROI should stop whinging about money, get jets, tanks and APCs and call up 10,000 more fully armed troops. You will boost the economy for starters but more importantly, youre gonna need them and a lot sooner than you think.
