Ex Irish Spitfire 159 returns to Europe
« on: November 07, 2010, 09:26:36 pm »
According to the latest edition of Aeroplane Spitfire Tr9 MJ772 which was on display at the Experimental Aircraft Association at Oshkosh is returning to Germany to a new owner. When at the Champlin Museum as N8R in Arizona, Doug Champlin covered over the rear cockpit. The new owner intends to change it back to the two seater configuration. It was delivered to the Air Corps in 1951 as 159 and its final flight there was in Jan 1960.
Hopefully it will return to Baldonnel some time when restoration is completed.
