Irish Marine whats your story, what exactly are you a member of?

Cygnet, I'm not in the AC or interested in being so but having had to do a few military parade I couldn't agree more, the DF have little enough training time as it is without creating extra useless distractions, we have nothing to parade and need what little time isn't spent mopping up after 80 years of mismanagement of the state is needed to maintain some sort of operational viability.

Imshi-Yallah-A parade once a year is not that bad. It might also get people to join the Irish Defence Forces.  Well its just an idea that should certainly be looked at. '<img'>  ''  '<img'>

There is nothing to joke about, this country has revealed itself to be racist, classist and immoral; and yet people still have the gall to be all pious about the evils of war, emigrating was the best decision of your life.

As I've already said, the Irish Defence forces don't need any adverts to recruit, there's always a waiting list! And Cygnet's right, why should the personnel have to give up their bank holiday? FF how do you remember the Vampires flying?

As you were probably not born until the late 1970's I remember them very well indeed - all the Easter Sunday parades and also they frequently flew over my house. That where my love of the Air Corps grew from!!  I am old enough also to remember the time that Aer Lingus trainee pilots received some of their  training from the Air Corps in Gormonston! I also watched the 1966 World Cup Final live on Telifis Éireann as it was known as then and the best Irish Soccer Players were Johnny Giles  and Eamon Rogers (Blackburn Rovers).

Bring Back the Parades! I was on the Unifil one in Dublin and it was a great Day for the DF and The Public to see them. You're right though the Navy can't March and the Public were Laughing at them (Could have been the Uniforms though)

One of my earliest memories of the Army was the Engineers building a Bridge at the Spring Show in the RDS many moons ago! when i was about 3 or 4 years old!! (Think the Mounties where there aswell!!) It got me interested in the Military!
