Very shocking to actually see them pretty much "new" Aircraft ready to be chopped, I note all the new Antennae on the wings and pylons and nose section, what a waste.

Politics? Closure for the families of those killed flying them perhaps.

I think your right partly on both counts but its more because of the cost.
