Surprised nobody has picked up on the mainly blue Eurocopter EC145 in for trials as the Gazelle Alouette and Dauphin replacement.

Surely not everybody from the Don on this board is gone on a halfer.

I suspect it's probably the BK-117 fitted with a Fenestron tail rotor, and a solid rotor hub, just guessing though.
But the only major Eurocopter addition to the EC-135 was the Fenestron.

Now that you mention it, I saw what I thought was the GASU EC-135 over Bal' today but it looked slightly bigger - couldn't make out the colour, looked dark.

Must have been the EC-145 you mention.
Any more info on it ? How long will it be there ,spec, etc.

Cheers,
Silver.

Nope! Didnt have a fenestron!!! It had a two bladed tail rotor, a la bk-117 !!? And you could certainly hear the difference when it was running with the distinctive "Prop" sound of the tail rotor as opposed to the turbine sound of the fenestron!!
Still, Very manouvreable a/c, albeit in ther hands of a test pilot!

Hi Guys,

Any chance of anyone getting a picture of the EC145 that's at Baldonnel at the minute and posting it on the board or sending it to me for the website?

Regards,

Frank.  ''

Whats it fitted out with, I saw what I assumed was a Dauphin (with winch crane) pulling some sweet looking turns over the Kilbride area.

Hi all! The 145 is blue with a rainbow running from nose to tail!
Quite an impressive A/C! I believe it done a "balls out" display down at the curragh with some impressive low level moves including a vertical dive at a frightenly low altitude. It was a "mini" airshow with the casa doing several low runs before dropping the black knights then doing a "VERY" low fast pass!!
Havnt been round the don a lot recently due to unforseen circumstances,   but I'll try and update yis on stuff at least once a week!!
