Has the colour scheme of the PC-9M been confirmed ?
(According to the artists' impression in the new AC book, it will be dark grey over light grey).

Also,
Will 'IRISH AIR CORPS' be displayed on each side of the engine compartment ?
(Like this US Texan II)

It's also a pity that none of the AIII's were given a special scheme for the 40 anniversary, like this 1993 scheme  -

I notice that the recent larger air Corps aircraft have "Aer Chor na hEireann" on the fuselage. Would look nice on these too perhaps?

The AIII is finished but the Engine looks Poxy though. As my PC is 3 years Old so is my Scanner and Printer the quality from these pictures isn't great when printed (although I did do a 600x600dpi print which was excellent) The Higher the Screen resolution the Better the Print quality. If you look at the back of the Air Corps book some of the Color scheme diagrams are a bit rough this is because of a low diagram resolution and a hig print resolution. If we were to produce the print me being the annoyingly meticulous person I am I waould want a better printer etc.

But I may do more! I take it Fouga 220 would be everones favourite!?!??

You can feck of if you think I'm doing a Dauphin though the Detail involved has me sweating!!

Hi Guys,

The PC-9M colour scheme is as illustrated in the back of the book, although I was told the grey colour will be slightly lighter than that in the book.

The Flying Training School badge will also be on the tail.

Regards,

Frank.

Yep, it's as appears on the cover.  The pic comes from the paintworks dept at Pilatus.  Their guys will apply this scheme as the aircraft come off the product line.

The Air Corps has gone for low viz colour scheme, except the roundels will remain hi-viz for some reason.

At a recent RAeS meeting in Dublin, photos were shown of the first PC-9M (260) in the production jigs - before the fuselage and wings were mated, which was to happen just before Christmas.  These components were already painted, with roundels and serial applied.  The light grey looked similar to that worn by the Dauphins etc., with a paler grey or white underside, as far as I remember.  However as we know, the appearance of colours in photos may not be a totally accurate guide.

Nice drawing Bailer !
Ever thought about doing some 'squadron prints' (Fouga 220 perhaps, hint, hint  ':<img:'> ) ?

So it seems that no AIII will be getting a 40th anniversary scheme ?!

Unfortunately the amount of Ram and Graphics memory it took to draw that nearly killed my pc. the actual resoulution is 600dpi which is 4000 odd pixels wide. So when (IF) i get a new PC I might do some. I was considering doing a print (of 195) with sqn flashes etc. alright but I don't know where to start organising production and costs are an issue at this time of year.

Speaking to a guy i know in the Don he said they were too busy with the EU presidency and lear jet arrival etc to be doing silly things like respraying alouettes just for the sake of it!!

If you ever get to do a 'squadron print' , could you not just do copies using your own scanner/printer ?

Re the Alouette, Fair enough, I suppose they are busy. But (as someone who has experience of spray painting) it wouldn't take much time (or cost) to respray 1 x Alouette tail boom as they did in 1993 (i.e. picture above).

However, if the interest in not there ........    '<img'>

I have been toying with the idea of doing something like this for a year or so, but never could quite find the time and, as has said, there's the production costs to think about.
Also, if prints where to be made, running them off a home printer would eat up ink like a hoover and we all know how expensive the ink cartridges are these days, plus you are limited in size to A4.
However, a local development has made such a thing a bit more practical than before, withthe maximum size of prints going up to A3. The quality would be excellent and prints can be run off from disc.
If enough interest was to materialise, I might have a go at one or two, tho' my personal leaning would be towards one of the two-seater spits, maybe 162 as it is still flying.

What do you think, ppl, would there be enough interest?
Bailer, if you want or need prints of your work, I could organise it for you.
Liam
