Well done!

Knowing that there are a large number of Air Corps personnel that view this site and contribute or just lurk, I would like to make a comment.

The Mayday operation showed the management of the Air Corps and the Government that in the personnel that participated, the country has a fine, dedicated, hugely professional and competent asset. The level of commitment shown from one and all was gratifying to observe, from the poor buggers that had to spend the night on the ground to the technicians that were active and critical to the success of the mission for up to and over 18 hours of hard slog. I know that the vast majority of the work you all did will go unnoticed by the general public, but it is important that it does not go unnoticed by everyone. To all those non-military people reading this you should be proud to know that these guys and girls are there in the background, making things work so the country can look good in the eyes of Europe. And if anyone that counts reads this and can do something about it, give them some better equipment so they can show you what they can really do.

I personally am proud of every member of the defence forces and particulary the Air Corps. Well done.

They certainly wore a lot of hats for an organisation starved of resources, its good to see that the Corps can muster as much of a contribution as it did.
On a side note after finally witnessing the helideck of the Eithne in person I have a much better understanding of just how difficult maritime heli-ops must have been, most people couldnt park a car on that.

No problem, its our duty to serve this great little nation of ours. Compared to other international events in recent years - Genoa etc this past weekend went very well, thanks mainly  to the public servants that normally get short shift from the media!

While we're on the subject of May Day, just a little story to give yis a laugh. On Friday night three Clondalkin lads decided it would be fun to nick a car and go for a joyride out the back roads. Of course being the weekend that it was the place was crawling with Garda and when they rounded a bend near the Don they were greeted by a line of Garda! Doh!

They then panicked and left the car and started to run across the fields only to be met by troops, Scorpion tanks, Heli's, Rangers....the lot!!!

Obviously they don't watch the news or we're just totally spaced out or suicidal!!!
