For all that needed confirmation that SAR crews are actually clinically insane, check out this new book from the Irish Times marine correspondent. It's available in Easons and well worth a read, covering many of the significant rescues that have happened around the coast over the years. Unbelievable stuff to rival the Perfect Storm. And no, I'm not getting anything for the plug. I just thought you might be interested is all. So there. Nyahh!

It's a good mix of IAC AL3 and Dauphin with a couple of S61 stories, ICG S61 and RAF/RN longrange stories off the south coast. It contains every major rescue from an IAC pov that I've ever heard of. There are some Scottish tales, but they all have an Irish connection. I read it cover to cover in a day, and it's not a short book!

Fantastic book, only bought it today and cannot put it down. Buy it, those guys in SAR are not normal people, they cannot be. Hero's and complete nutters are three words that describe these people.
