GTTC or is it Mr Funny Man,
Tell me would you be scathing of a so called historian who describes the death of four fine young men in the Dauphin crash as "flying into high ground" a sand dune! or writing about the demise of a pilot as "flying into a stuffed cloud" is that meant to be funny? How about describing a wartime crash in Donegal in detail, a crash that never occured and even names a "pilot" who was actually a bombadier on another aircraft. A so called military and aviation historian should be able to identify the flagship of the Navy and not attribute it to a Spanish Naval vessel. As regards access the same facilities were and are available, the difference was that I made use of them and put in the work and did not expect it to be handed on a plate. I do not bully my way. Do check your facts before making remarks. Why was Wings over Ireland not reviewed in An Cosantoir a number of people were invited all refused, now I wonder why.

Well,if he gets such details as that wrong, then obviously he hasn't done his work.Touche to you! As for access, you have,I know, had access in Baldonnel for many years, at every level,including the very top.I know this because I saw you there regularly in my decade-plus service, certainly at every public event in the Don.You are better known in the place than any other historian/writer that has written about the place, so your modesty doesn't become you.As for his errors,the Don can certainly complain to him and get them corrected.Surely they received a proof copy to read before the publication. As an aside, I have no connection to D mc C but was interested in his work as a new voice on the Irish avaition writing scene.

GTTC yes I have been privilleged  amongst a unique collection of people and I have been welcome in the Airmans, NCO's and Officers messes and enjoyed equal hospitality. Perhaps you may understand why I do get a bit stroppy. To my knowledge no proof copy was submitted and the Air Corps would not under the circumstances lodge a correction, but nobody would review it. Many years previously he sent part of the manuscript to me and I made many , many corrections but were ignored.

Tony, your knowledge and I'm sure your pile of Air Corps photographs would make you ideal to compile a photo based book far superior to the one mentioned above! How about it?
BTW, I'm heading over in early November with my eldest daughter and her boyfriend so I hope to get some time to pop in to see some of the 'old' lads in Baldonnel.
