What is the best documentary/feature/video production that you have seen on the Defence Forces ?

(Mine is the RTE Nationwide feature programme on the DF's back in 1999)

Yeah I saw that one, it was pretty good. It's kind of a tough question though seen as there as so few programmes done about the Air Corps. I'd love to see them making more...

Perhaps Nationwide will do a 'follow up' docu of the Defence Forces after the new AC helis arrive ?

A kind of 'before and after' of the DF's progress since 1999.

Just been to the flicks and saw an Irish made short with the title ' Borris' (pun or mistake?), on the story of the episode where Boris Yeltsin for whatever reason did not embark from his plane at Shannon in 1994 to meet Irish VIPs.

Casement becomes Shannon for the purposes of the film and one of the Air Corps CASA's sporting mock Russian logos is the aircraft. The closing pan shows an AIII and a Dauphin on the ramp.

This is the first time I have seen IAC aircraft used as ' extras' on cinema (as distinct from IAC pilots flying reproduction aircraft for film-making in the 1960s/70s).

Saw that too(the apres match crowd). One of the Gazelles regularly pretended to be a BA Gazelle, and I remember  Casa 250 Pretended to be a RAF herc for "In the name of the father".

Hi Guys,

There's a picture of the CASA that's done up for that movie in the database, click here to see it:

One of the Gazelles 'played' the part of a BA heli in 'The Devil's Own'.

On the question of documentaries there were some good ones on Irishbatt in Unifil (including a Leargas Irish language programme) back some years ago.
