Flights in AC aircraft...
« on: November 12, 2005, 08:58:28 pm »
hi all
I found an old flight record book in the attic and totted up all the flights I got when I was in, as follows;
Alouette: About 20.
Marchetti: About 20.
King Air: At least 18.
Dauphin: 1.
Gazelle: 1.
Fouga: 3.
Cessna: About 16.
Casa: about 10.

That was over eleven years and was a mix of being officially aboard, i.e, air tests/air ambulance/loader/flying spanner/positioning/winching practise and the rest were joyrides. I got to participate in air firing, formation practise, instrument flight training, winching, para-dropping, patient or body part transfer, circuits and hours of aerobatics! I even got a few minutes handling the Fouga, Marchetti and Cessna. A lot of the joyrides I got through endlessly "requesting" flips from the Flt. Sergeants i/c (the real power in any hangar).I reckon I covered over a hundred hours airborne at the Minister's pleasure. One real benefit for being in the Don.
regards
GttC

I'm quite proud of the fact i was up in the GASU squirrel before the minister got a flight in it.However i was sitting in the extreme right rear seat, while wearing the headset for the centre right which attempted to hang me every time I looked out the window..  'pilot_laugh'

I know, I know, the Yak & Dak aren't Air Corps, but they both had camo paint schemes, I had to pad my meager list out somehow!

At least I kept away from the airliners...

Hi Tony,

I know we're going off topic here, I might start a new thread to cover flights in all aircraft but in the meantime....

The aircraft I flew in is a C-47D flown by the Warbird Dakota Society in Auckland, new Zealand, more info can be found here: http://www.nzwarbirds.org.nz/dakota/

Regards,

Frank.

Good Thread, GttC!

i've still got most of my flying record from GP Heli aircrew, I used to use the front page of a 101 in my kneepad, then transfer the deatils when we got back. also there's some little snippets of info-Doctor and Nurses' names if it's an Air Ambulance run, etc.
I reckon I've got (approx!):    500 hrs in Alouette 111s,
                                          30 hrs in Gazelle
                                          10 hrs in Puma
                                          10 hrs in Fouga
10 hrs in Beech King Air
                                           4 hrs in HS 125
loads of hrs in Land Rovers
                                          Bedford Trucks!
                                         Civie Airliners from 1-11s
                                         Tridents, HS 146s, 747s etc.

More recently:                      6 hrs in Grob Tutor
1/2 hr in Grob Vigilant glider
1/2 hr in Yak 52 (awsome!)

plenty of aerobatics in the Fougas, Gazelle and more recently in the Grob Tutors-nothing like it! well my motorbike trips in France come very close, especially on the roads north west of Alencon!

i might get some flying lessons?!not sure yet?!i was also thinking of going on that tour to zhukovsky airbase in russia and they bring you up in practically every brand of modern russian fighters!though its not cheap!that would be cool though!il resurrect this thread in about two years and add MiG-25 MiG-29 MiG-31 SU-24 SU-25 SU-27!that would beat most peoples lists!
