I think I'd better explian myself further about the whole working in the hangers subject. I didnt want to get in to it too much but what I meant by "the whole health and safety thing" was that these days you cant scratch ur arse in the don without having an approved scratcing finger and you have to be in the right envoiroment etc...etc!!!!
The Aircorps are nuts on health and safety these days, because theyre covering theyre arses legally. Enough said!!
God knows I know what its like to be lying under an aircraft at 3am in the cold and damp. It was my job, so I done it, but if theyre goin to provide me with a warm hanger etc then bring it on.

Hi John K
The very man.He also went by the inglorious nickname of "Sh1thead"....P.Doff; I like being indoors as much as anyone, but I prefer 5 minutes changing a bulb outside than the whole rigmarole of getting an aircraft towed across an airport, allied to the risk of a towing accident. It isn't unusual in EIDW to pass an hour moving from one stand to another or over to the hangar, because of the aircraft traffic or delays due to ramp works or waiting for escorts or whatever. That's with Dublin being a small airport.Easier to just fix it there and then , if you can. Also, the Don mentality of being surgically attached to hangars doesn't bode well for any planned foreign ops or even for living-in-the-field stuff for the Army.
