What aircraft types have you flown in?
« on: November 16, 2005, 12:46:22 pm »
Hi Guys,

Seeing as there is a thread running on flights in Air Corps aircraft I thought I'd start a thread on flights in any aircraft type.

List whatever aircraft you've flown in and we'll see what wierd and wonderful types show up.

My list is as follows:

Air Corps:
Marchetti
Alouette
Rocket (Cessna)

Warbird:
Yak-52
C-47

I'll add my civil stuff later.

Regards,

Frank.

Ok, seeing as it's nearly Christmas we'll open this thread to anything you've even sat in or walked through, in flight or on static, this thread is only for a bit of fun anyway!

tucano
hawk
jaguar
jet provost
sea king

i was allowed up beside them and have a close look by one of the RAF flying corps fellas!he brought me upto them and i thought it was cool!it was the first time i encountered up close any military aircraft that wasnt irish!oh and the fella brought me upto the C130 that was there also and the loadmaster who had just supervised the offloading of a promotional landrover said i could have a snoop around inside.the herc was the one used by the RAF falcons parachute display team about 2hours later that day.oh all this was at the Derry airshow in 2001 at eglington airport.

Hi all
Flown in: B737-2/3/4/500(all j), B747-400(j), B767, B757.
MD-80,Bac1-11, F50(j),BAe-146(j),A320(j),321/330(j),ATR-42/72(j),Dash-7,King Air,Islander,Dakota,Cherokee-6,Fouga,Casa-235(j)..Anything marked with a (j) I jumpseated.

Helis:B212,Al.III, Dauphin,Gazelle,R22, Hughes 500.Had 2 lessons in the R22.

Flown:Rallye 100,Tiger Moth,C.150/152/Aerobat,Jodel 112/117/120,Zenith 200,Rutan LongEze,Cessna 172 D,G,M,N,P,R.;Tampico TB9,Piper Tomahawk,Piper Cub(J-3 and L-4), Cherokee PA28-140/180 and Arrow 200R/T,Decathlon,Stampe,Motor Tutor, Katana,Grumman AA-5,Chipmunk,Evans VP-1/2,Luton Minor,Cessna 185,CFM Shadow B/D/Starstreak,Kitfox II and III,Beech Duchess,Islander,Cessna 206,Cessna P210 Turbine, Piper Super Cub,Vans RV-6,Tecnam P2000JF,Chevron motorglider,Whittaker MW-5/6,Xair, Samba and BFC Challenger microlights, Pegasus flexwing, G120 gyrocopter...also flew the Fouga and SF260, unofficially.
A lot of these have been repeats, such as 130 hrs. in C.172s.I've also done 40+ hours in Frasca sims (Seminole/Navajo/PA28/BE76 and the B737-200 sim in EIDW).
This has been achieved, in a lot of cases, by simply loitering with intent around airfields and some shameless begging doesn't hurt, either.Any pilot worth his/her salt will not refuse a request for a seat, if at all possible.

Rather than making a big list,

I was at and saw all the aircraft at ATI 93(Including the MIG29 Mid air,Chivenor 1993, ATI94.. I dont think there were many of the exotic types not at those shows..

Next question...

How many Mid Air colissions have you witnessed?

How many Cockpit Ejections have you witnessed?

Hi Sealion
Crashes: I was in one, witnessed one and saw the consequences of quite a few (mostly light aircraft) and salvaged a few (2 Marchettis and a Cessna) and have inspected the repairs to aircraft after them. They're not fun and sound awful when they happen, big or small.
