Should Maritime Patrol go civie ?

Hi all
Why would a Casa be needed to cover a pair of helicopters crossing the Irish Sea? Are they afraid that the brand-new engines would fail and plunge the lot into the briny? More time, energy and kerosene wasted....

Come on boys and girls, you've been on the board long enough.OK,it looks like I will have too spell it out for you then, if it helps R stands for rescue.R-117 = Rescue 117(IRCG Waterford rescue callsign).Hopefully this hasl cleared things up.I will remember next time not to abbreviate things. Hi all
Rescue-116 took off from Dublin Airport last night at 10pm to attend the search for the missing fishermen off the Wexford coast. As of this morning, one is safe, one has died and one is still missing.Condolences to their families.
