I took these photos of a scaled mock up at an exhibition this year. They might be of interest to someone.

Fox 1 here. I'm a newbie pretty much so this is one of my first posts! Anyway, I was just looking at the link below and found this extract.

The AB139 Military has low IR/radar signatures, high ballistic tolerance, and can be fitted with a .50 caliber gun inside the cabin, or with Stinger or Mistral missiles on external racks. Other features include a Honeywell integrated display, IR nav system and countermeasures, 6,000-pound external cargo hook capacity, and the ability to take off with only one engine.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows whether our 139s will be equipped to this military standard. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

from what is known Irelands AB139s will be pretty much just the civi model with mountings for 7.62mm general purpose machine guns, though with one engine out they could probably still take of with emergency thrust.the cockpit will be night vission goggle capable aswell!they could be upgraded to military spec though easy enough by BellAgusta.

Fox1 welcome to the Board! 'thumbsup'

Why the bloody hell dont they just get the Military ones automatically instead of Upgrading its so sad to do it like that especially for an Air Arm no matter what size they are! ''

Hi all
So it's either fire the GPMG or the rockets but not both at the same time?! If the GPMG window is open, then the flash from the rocket launch will scorch the gunner! He can't fire aft of the nose of the pod in case he shoots a bit off the pod or the stub wing! Jesus wept! Bring back the UH-1D! Four M60s firing forward, a couple of dozen rockets and a flexible M60 on either side of the cabin;and that was thirty years ago, too.
regards

Thanks for the warm welcome Fouga!

So we're only one of the first military customers of the 139, instead of one of the first to purchase of the military variant then?

I was talking to a cadet at the Fás Oppurtunities Fair at Croke Park last year and he seemed pretty certain that we were getting the military version. But I had my doubts about us getting a fully kitted out military heli from the start. Looks like we'll have to wait and see! Let's hope for the best anyway!!! '<img'>

Have you climbed into a UH60 with CEFO recently?

I was in one without same, and it was not easy. The cabin, while numerically volumnous, is very cramped, and difficult to get into.

Lets not knock the AB139 until it proves itself first.Or doesnt.

If its good enough for JP Mc Manus... 'thumbsup'

I dont think JP will be climbing in and out with CEFO!!!
But think your dead right lets see how it goes, on paper this aircraft looks very good.
Lets hope it lives up to its expectations..

Climbing into anything smaller than Denmark with CEFO is awkward.
