Well it was in the news today that we may be sending troops but with our current deployments(Liberia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, etc) we`ll only be able to provide at most 90 soldiers.

IIRC there are 3 or 4 soldiers serving with ISAF in Afghanistan. They are based at the HQ in Kabul.

Hi all
Irish UN peacekeepers are deployed worldwide, especially on border monitoring duties in areas such as the Golan Heights. If you added them all up, it totals nearly a thousand, which is a big chunk of the PDF total manpower. It takes a lot of people at home to support the people overseas, given the amount of people out sick, on leave, on courses,on barrack duties, training, etc. Also, a deployment doesn't have to be big to learn useful information about the recipient nation or the local political environment.
