Being a betting man I,d say that name will be sourced from within the Irish language (fare enough), but then  will go and balls it up by naming it something like "colur".Irish for pigeon! 'pilot_rolleyes'

True sealion, but it does sound a bit odd, flying Wolfhound. Robin, albatross, gannet something that maybe associated with flight might be better then a breed of a dog that is known to be big and lazy and not very fiercesome despite its name.

2 clan: and what bird's name hasn't been used, Albatros is Czech made L-39, Alca is newer L-159... And different Tucanos, Arrows, Daggers, wasps and other insects are plenty out-there as well

For I know it's a sort of ghost in Irish

Alca is not the name of the jet  Alca stands for Advanced light combat aircraft!but still it sounds good!

Fise, Crow, sand piper, Curlew, Avocet, goldcrest, goldfinch, greenfinch, blue tit s far as I know have not been used and off the top of my head I could easily come up with another 50 or so. And I think you mean Dipper not Dagger.
Banshee is a good one as Guninness suggested.

2 clan: I meant Dagger - Delta, Banshee sounds good, but again it was name for 50's U.S. Navy jet...
But what I meant above is: bird names are too common, everybody who wants to name a plane says falcon, eagle, condor etc. I think more originality is needed.
For example: Apache doesn't fly, so how come one of the most known army - or attack - helicopters bears this name, the same about Tiger or Gazelle or Dolphin/e/, there are at least two crafts with this name and what about I.D.F. names? Lions do not fly either...
