You're right, "139" has already stuck with the IAC, no matter if they are eventually rebranded 149's or given a name, but I like "Wolfhound". Very military and evocative, and it would be good for the IAC and for Ireland to be referenced by every additional military operator of the 139/149, and there will be many over the years because this is an exceptional aircraft with lots of potential.
Be quick though. If the US-139 wins the imminent US Arrmy Light Utility Helicopter competition, as it well might, it will get an American Indian tribe name, the tradition for all US Army aircraft. Hardly Irish. Decision expected next month on at least 350 aircraft, with many more likely if the USAF signs on as well to replace their UH-1N's as expected. Competition is Bell 412 (not likely), EC-145 (Likely) and MD-900 Explorer (not a chance). I'm betting on the 139 Wolfhound.
