Did anybody else see the 3 x 172 and 2 x AIII formation flying over The Curragh this morning for about an hour ?

Practice for an upcoming ceremonial event ?

They were probably practising for the Easter Rising 90th anniversary parade through Dublin at Easter.

Ya i saw them they flew right over us, my Unit and alot of other Units were in the Curragh Camp today to practice our March for the Easter Parade and as we did the Parade through the Camp and Surrounding Area's the Formation flew over us every 4mins or so for the whole duration of our March, it gave us something to look to when the CS kept shouting "Heads high everywhere nothing to see on the ground believe me ive looked" i suppose it was something to watch to take the annoyance of the rain pelting down on us! Well done to the Guys who were flying over us today the formation was well recieved on the Ground by Military and Civillian alike and the formation was nice and tight well done! '<img'>

Pretty much everything the Air Corps has will be flying over the parade, from what I've heard there will be at least 4 waves of aircraft, each wave being composed of different types

Hmmmph... Clogs!

They will break the flypasts up into 4 groups, the aircraft will not all be flying together, makes it look like we have more that we actually do!

Hi all
The old Soviet practise of turning the formation around for a second pass to "swell" the numbers,eh? The astonished crowd will gaze up and contemplate the flypast with the age-old questions forming on massed lips, "Janey! Do we have an Air Force? Do we have that many aeroplanes!?". Maybe we should get the pilots of twins to desynchronise their props, to make them sound more plentiful, if nothing else.

Hi All,

The formation was out again today over the Don except this time they also flew in formation with a 135. In ten years working beside the Don it's the first fixed wing/rotary formation I have seen. 'thumbsup'

Hi all
Yeah, I saw them, too, while I was heading home from work. For those of you who wish to simulate a Cessna 172 formation flight, just form a "vic" with two of your mates and make the "BwahWahWah" sound of Continental engines being revved up and down rapidly, as the wingmen try to formate..
