Hi guys,
I recently heard that a board had been set up to study Cessna replacement. I dont know if it an official board or not. Anybody got any info.

hey i was in casement yesterday and i asked a mechanic that question and he said there was talk about but its not seen as urgent because the cessnas are still great value for money.he also showed me one of the aircrafts flight logs206 i think it was and it has 7500hours on the clock,he was also telling me that he believes our cessnas are the best maintianed in the world.hope that answers your question!?

I actually just seen this weeks Flight International. The GOC has stated that the next plan is to replace the 172s and C208s and PC6s could be seen as suitable replacements.
What do you think?

both are viable options but the caravan is probably still the favoured choice!is the PC6 even still in production?

Could the PC-12 also not be considered for this replacement especially in context to replacing the Cessnas Inland waterways/geograpical survey role aswell as replacing the kingair in a MATS role etc oir could spilt buy ever happen with like or Two PC-6/Two PC-12s covering the whole cessna/beechcraft replacment or would this be totally unlikely?

With your monicker, I'm surprised you could not answer that question yourself!

See http://www.pc-6.com/ for lots about the PC-6.  The production listing shows that the type remains in production, albeit at a fairly slow rate.

The PC-6 seems to me to be a much more specialised aircraft than the Caravan and, like most STOL types, its cruising speed is relatively low - 119kt, versus the Caravan's 184kt.  Their respective load-carrying ability differs too, with the PC-6 at about 1400kg and the Caravan 2000kg.  No doubt the Cessna is considerably more expensive too.

I think it really depends on what it is to be utilised for. If you want a pretty civil aircraft go for the 208. If you want a rugged, NVG capable Army Aviation aircraft go for the PC 6.
