Insensitive!
« on: August 29, 2006, 09:47:18 pm »
Hi All
My son was looking on Ebay and when he typed in "Irish Air Corps" an item came up selling Air Corps half wing patches
with the one illustrated bearing the name "I. DOWNEY.
Am I being oversensitive  by being upset by this?
I just think its a bit too close to Ians tragic death to see his name up for sale on ebay!
Maybe the seller,to give him the benefit of the doubt, does not know this, but maybe he should have checked before putting anybodys name on the internet.
Its still hard to believe he is gone and ebay is not the way I wish to be reminded of a good friend and colleague.

A company is also selling 'Official' Air Corps tee shirts, badges etc. I believe they are called Celtic Embrodery. I doubt very much if these are Air Corps approved and if any roylties go to the men and women of the Corps.
As for the badge mentioned above it is likely to be a knock off. I had the pleasure of serving with Ian in Baldonnel and the likes of this is sickening.
Perhaps an email to the seller to set him straight, perhaps he is just not aware of what he is selling.

The only "company" which has approval by the IAC is Dirks.

The polos are on order and hopefully be in in october.

More items will be added during the next months.

ONLY THESE ITEMS HAVE APPROVAL BIJ THE IAC AND 'PROFIT" WILL GO TO THE IAC !!!!

ST

Nope !!

Dirk even hasn't got a company.
He's 18 and works together with the IAC.

And again,
profit goes to the IAC so why do you need a company?

Yeh,
It looks like somebody pulling a fast one alright.
Just read some of Dirks posts on Flying in Ireland. Sounds like a good plan and best of luck to him with it.
