I agree Imshi.
But I suppose those aircraft wouldn't be as 'comfy' for Bertie and Co. !
 
With the withdrawl of the King Air, the Corps will be left without a twin-engined trainer - the CASA's will be left to 'pick up the slack'   '<img'>

in all fairness to the king air its a crap initial twin trainer. the corps would be better off with something like a baron for that purpose. any other a/c currently in the inventory could not be used as a twin trainer.

a beech baron is the best a/c for twin training. buy one there cheap and easy to maintain

What's wrong with it, then FF? Can you detail the problems, it won't be breaking any security as it is a civilian aircraft and as you know (?) you have a duty to report any defects to other operators, don't you!

There has been talk for years here about replacing the Cessna's with the Caravan. Alas still no caravans other than the ones parked down the Naas Road. The Defender/Islander was found to be underpowered in Garda use so with a few extra pax on board?

Hey FF I was flying (passenger) in 234 when 240 was delivered when 232 and 234 went to meet it over the Shannon on its delivery flight. YOU WEREN'T THERE!!

K240 is alive and doing well and has plenty of life left in it.

I'm fairly sure I saw the king air in the sky over city west around 3:30 or so today... was tired and coming home on the bus so not 100%... but it was flying low and fast towards baldonnel as it always seems to be when I see it, its a good looking aircraft '<img'>

also so an A3 swinging in.

As far as I know, the King Air is in constant use.

My question is - For how long ?
Has it enough hours left to last, say, another 4-5 years ?
by which time we MIGHT have aquired twin-engined Cessna-replacments.

i'm not saying its crap to fly, quite the opposite actually, but as a 'this is the first time i have ever used two throttles' type a/c its no good

The King Air is in good Serviceability as far as i know! Well that was July when i was told at the Airshow Press Reception as one of the 2 AC Crew who represented the AC at the Function flew it the odd time!

Hi Guys,

I was in Baldonnel last week and the Beech was out doing a compass alignment but I also noticed that they were running up the right hand engine.

I was in the vicinity of Baldonnel the day after and spotted it taking off so I'm sure it's back in fully working order again.
