With the current position and operational capabilities of the air corps might the opposition not have a fair case in pursuit of fighter procurement?According to the government on Military.ie the role of the aircorps is described as: "To contribute to the security of the State by providing for the Military Air Defence of its territorial integrity".AIR DEFENCE!Air Defence indeed!So, can anyone explain how such a statement has constantly gone uncondemned before!How can they justify this non- compliance of a CONSTITUTIONAL requirement of its armed forces?Who is in a position to notify the government of our operational status and defence procurement needs?And if the government is oblivious to the fact that the aircorps are certainly not equipped to perform such roles(which is unlikely!) who is responsible for not informing them?A relative of mine is in the Army and according to him the PfP states that by a certain time all member countries have to be able to defend their own territories including sea and air.Anyone have any further info on this?
